Design Principle - Project 1 Self Portrait
INSTRUCTION

PROJECT 1 : Self Portrait
This week is the briefing of our project which is self portrait. We need to create a portrait of ourselves by applying the various principles that we have learnt through these weeks, explore various ideas and approaches before deciding on a final idea.
So, before I start, I do some research for myself to see how people express themselves and why they create their artwork with that way.
Reference :
Miss Anis ask us to create a narrative, theme of our self portrait. Then, create moodboard which is collection of images best represent your future artwork as references.

I like their overall colour for the whole picture.

I also like flowers, and the picture at the right looks nice for me.

The combination of the two things I like, books and flowers. So I'll just collect it.
For myself, I think I'm kind of like a calm person which means I like to enjoy my time, doing things that I liked or have more private space for myself. Sometimes I will be very talk active, sometimes I just want to be quite but this doesn't mean that I'm sad. I like the feeling that having peace in myself. Thus, I also like dry flowers because I think it looks very nice for decoration.

I accidentally saw this artwork on a online page, its really cute, funny and very different from other artwork.

This is very simple but overall looks very nice and tidy.

Simple and plain. I liked this picture because it is using pastel colour to create whole picture to looks harmony and there is a black colour in the middle to make it contrast.
Self portrait :
This artwork is mainly shows what I like to do in everyday and the overall of this picture is pastel colour. Since I choose pastel colour for my artwork, so I decided to make it flat because I think this picture will not nice if I apply gradient on it. Apart from that, I think I am kind of person that prefer simple style, so I keep it simple and quite straight forward as you can see there are all the elements I've created (books, flowers, paintbrush) are all things that I like to do.

REFLECTION
I feel like I don't really work hard on the project and I think it could be better if I spend more time on it. Therefore, I realize that I also need to spend more time to think about myself / my life experiences because I rarely express my real self and especially when I come to this project which is "self portrait", to create an artwork that can communicate with the audience what you want to tell or express. I will think this is difficult because I know that I am not good at expressing myself through an artwork and I should improve it because create an artwork is not just doing a work but it's to create an artwork that represents you.
