FINAL PROJECT - Surrealistic Parallax

Our final project is to create surrealistic parallax by using Adobe After Effect to create animation in our digital artwork. We need to apply everything that we have learn from the previous exercises and projects into this project, the only different is to animate it. Mr Fauzi gives us a brief before we start and provide us examples and references that regarding to digital surrealism video. He also teaches us a lot of technique on how to animate in After Effects. In our progress, he consult us make sure that everyone is on the track and also provide assistance to make the animation part.

Before I start, I do some research about surrealistic parallax to understand the concept and to get inspiration.

I like the position of the women placed there and she just looks like a mountain and its very match with the landscape. Thus, the tears that link to the ground is very unique.

this collage is simple but unique as well. I like the words being cut into two pieces.

I will use the sunny egg as my cloud because when I first saw this, its funny yet creative.

The composition of this collage is very nice and I probably will take this as my main reference.

Progress :

apply layer mask to do the slice effect and then place something on it.

apply some smoke on the egg because it's suppose to be a cloud

add fishes swimming in the sky. If you zoom in, you can see the fishes are swimming with two legs.

added vehicle on the road and the tears will be the route. Overall looks weird but nice.

Process of animation :
After I've got the approval from Mr Fauzi, I started to animate in Adobe After Effects. 

Five things that I've decided to animate :

1. Sunny egg sky
2. Fishes swimming in the sky
3. The vehicles moving on the road
4. The smoke of the vehicle
5. Things that are hanging under the road

same thing goes to the fishes

animate the things hanging under the road. First thing that I've made is to join two layers together because the rope and the ice cream are in different layers. Therefore, click the anchor point by pressing "Y"  and move it to the top of the rope to change the center of the rotation. Repeat the same thing to the rest but do a little bit changes to make it move irregular.

REFLECTION 
This project is much more simple for me since we have done the exercises and project previously, so I probably would already have the concept on it. First of all, the project is about surrealism parallax, is to create something that is like a dream or something that does not make sense. So it has a lot of way for us to use our imagination.

My artwork is funny and mischievious and I put a lot of stuffs that are not suppose to be that way in real life as you can see the clouds have became sunny egg, fishes swimming in the sky and many vehicles are hanging under the road. Overall it looks weird yet interesting. Therefore, I added background music in order to express the feeling (weird, funny, mischievious) in this work.

At the very beginning I find it difficult to do this project because it has to be animated which sounds very scary for me. But after I've try to approach it, spent more time to explore Adobe After Effects and try to understand the function and I notice that I am having fun with it. Even though, there are a lot of error when animating but when you try to solve it, you can definitely gain different skills and knowledge.
