PROJECT 2 : Sense of Place

Project 2 - sense of place (15%)
For project 2, we need to observe within our space and surroundings (room, house, condominium, apartment, garden or overview of your balcony). We have to select visuals that we are interesting in and then translate it into a design work that reflects our interpretation of a place.

Picture :
This is a picture I have taken on a road after raining. It's a very old street and there are stagnant water on the road (after rain), I just simply take out my phone and place the camera close to the road and take reflection of the building. Here is the picture I took.

Things that are special in this picture is the reflection of the building in the stagnant water and the weather which is gloomy after the rain. I liked this picture because I think the overall of this picture has three points which is the gloomy weather with a very old building and what's so special is the angle of taking this picture, use the water on the roadside to shoot the reflection effect.

Thus, since it is a gloomy weather with a old building, I will be using cold colour tone for my artwork such as grey, blue and brown.

Start with drawing the building line first

colour the buildings after I got the lines, but when I the apply the colour of the reflection, both building and reflection looks like one. So, I reduce the capacity of the reflection and add one layer on the reflection to make the two buildings look different with each one.

I add one more layer at the lower half of the whole picture to draw the stagnant water on the road but the reflection of the building still does not look well. So, I've decided to add more layer and  make it darker on the water so the reflection looks real. However, during consultation, Miss Anis suggest me to add something interesting into my artwork such as add some fishes into the water since the characteristic of the picture is the reflection effect.

REFLECTION

In this project, things that really challenge me is my digital drawing skill. I am not very skilled with using brush tool to create an artwork yet this artwork is mainly using brush. However, I also think it is good to challenge myself to try something harder so that I can be improved. Since I personally feel that my last project can be better if I work more harder, so I tried to do the best for this project.
